Job Description


Job Title:              HVAC Trainer and Quality Assurance Supervisor

Department:         HVAC

Reports To:          HVAC Operations Manager



Work hours associated with this position are described below: (Hours may have to be adjusted for on or off site training)

  • Monday – Friday
    • 7:30am – 5:00pm
    • Daily one hour lunch break
  • Nights/Weekend/Holidays
    • As needed phone support
    • Overtime may be required in extreme circumstances due to maintaining customer expectations and providing technical support. All efforts will be taken by dispatch and management to limit overtime hours.



The essential function of the HVAC Trainer and Quality Assurance Supervisor are:



  • Uphold the highest level of quality in both customer service and technical proficiency
  • Complete service calls with a primary focus on training and customer service
  • Set and manage the on-call rotation
  • Be available for phone tech support when needed
  • Know your people and develop a mentoring relationship. Do everything you can do to prevent turnover and maximize employee retention.
  • Keep a close eye on your apprentices. If they are not going to be a permanent assets to the company we must replace them will candidates which will be.
  • Meet with factory reps, tech support, etc.
  • Run “advanced” service calls


            HVAC TRAINER

  • Build training calendars
  • Make sure every service technician in the company is NATE certified
  • Mentor your apprentices through the training binder. Ensure they are hitting benchmarks in the allotted time frame
  • Train technicians on the Service System
  • Ensure technicians run service calls based on company requirements
  • Reduce call backs for customer service and training purposes. Oversee callbacks
  • Continue to refine and develop the training binder
  • Keep effective training logs based on findings in the field
  • Keep effective training logs on items trained
  • Conduct HVAC installation training
  • Conduct training both hands on in the Training Center and in a class room setting



  • Assist distressed customers
  • Be responsible for every candidate which has come up through the program no matter what skill level they have achieved
  • Ensure that subordinates are proficient in paperwork. Retrain if necessary
  • Conduct Quality Assurance Inspections


Train and mentor apprentices through their respective apprenticeship programs. Answer questions asked by Service Technicians as needed. Assist Service Technicians with technical trade questions, customer service, pricing, estimates, and paperwork. Also assist Field Supervisor/Operations Manager with training, truck inspections, and disciplinary actions up to and including terminations of Service Technicians. As a Company Service Trainer, hold those under charge accountable to Company Policies and Standards.



To perform this job successfully, candidates must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Candidates for this position must be willing to pursue and personally participate in continuing education and must be an active supporter of company pricing policies.   Must be familiar with local plumbing/HVAC codes and be able to speak to company product lines with accuracy.   Must be proficient in using a smart phone, internet, Microsoft Office, and the All-in-One copy/print/scan/fax machine.



Required: A high school diploma or equivalent and must be NATE certified.

A minimum of four years’ experience as a plumbing or HVAC technician. Competence in Company Polices, Standards, and Procedures.





Must be able to read and write English well enough to communicate with customers, coworkers, and trainees and to read and prepare invoices, time sheets, and proposals.



Must be able to successfully complete mathematical aptitude evaluation.



Must be capable of applying sound business judgment to all decisions.



Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, EPA Universal Certification, Gas Pipe Cert., and NATE Certified.

The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of hands feet and fingers to handle or feel objects and must be capable of bending, reaching, and crouching. Able to handle or feel objects and use tools and equipment and must be capable of bending, reaching, crouching, climbing and crawling.


Must have command of all senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus. Must hear and speak well enough to conduct business over the telephone or face to face for long periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted.

This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very cold with rain to very hot and humid. This includes attics, crawl spaces, and confined locations. This position will require working indoors and outdoors. The employee may be called upon to be in customer or service production sites on an as need to basis. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


This position can be stressful at times with the goal of managing stress and delegating to the technicians when possible.
