A Senior Instructor is responsible for teaching courses, but additionally assumes administrative responsibilities related to Student, Safety, and Compliance programs.  The Senior Instructor provides leadership, training, and oversight to all program components.

Reporting to the Program Director, the Senior Instructor provides subject matter expertise and actively participates in the curriculum development, revision, and implementation process.  As the subject matter expert in a particular program, the Senior Instructor provides face to face product knowledge training to the client admissions group(s), utilizing materials generated via the centralized curriculum development process.  The Senior Instructor is responsive to the client and admissions staff when asked to engage with potential students and actively participates in new student orientation.

The Senior Instructor is also responsible for monitoring and supporting the student population within his/her program of study.  The Senior Instructor plays an active role in the student advising process, including meeting with students who initiate a complaint, advising students who have career-oriented questions, and consulting with students whose engagement and/or academic progress is in question. The Senior Instructor analyzes student population data, working with faculty and staff to identify students who may be at risk, and contacting students to identify barriers to success and to provide support and information concerning student services.

The Senior Instructor is responsible for continuous improvement of the program.  Actively engaged in the development and maintenance of the site effectiveness plan, the Senior Instructor collects data for purposes of analyzing program performance.  The Senior Instructor shares responsibility with CDL Program Director to provide performance data and feedback from the local client which is shared with the central Ancora team for purposes of (centralized) continuous improvement of the curriculum.

Finally, the Senior Instructor is responsible for working collaboratively with CDL Operations staff to develop relationships with clients who are willing to provide opportunities for students to participate in practicum experiences at their worksite.  


Experience Required:

  • Minimum:
    • Class A Commercial Driver’s License
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • 1 years of experience in driver training or academic instruction in a post-secondary environment
    • 3 years of commercial driving industry experience
    • Excellent customer service skills
  • Preferred:
    • 3 years of experience in academic instruction in a post-secondary environment
    • 7 years of experience in the field of commercial  driving
    • Experience in student guidance, or related field
