Posted Position Title: Apprentice - Erie Plant Career Level: Experienced Function: Manufacturing Function Segment: Manufacturing Programs Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: Pennsylvania City: Erie Postal Code: 16531-0001 Relocation Assistance: No Role Summary/Purpose: The GE Transportation Manufacturing Apprentice Program develops individuals for management positions in a Lean Manufacturing and Assembly Environment. GEMAP is a four-year program that allows members to build leadership and functional skills, through challenging rotational assignments and training. In this role Apprentices are involved in GE’s strategic initiatives, including; GE’s drive for LEAN Six Sigma. Essential Responsibilities: Program Summary:


  • Intensive four-year entry level program with seven rotational assignments
  • Possible assignments include; Manufacturing Shop Operations, Six Sigma, Materials Management, and Quality
  • Mentoring, teamwork, and ongoing reviews
  • Training at Erie Institute of Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology Associates Degree from Penn State Behrend
  • Training in Lean Six Sigma, Materials Management, Quality, and Operations
  • High School Graduate

    Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness and ability to work in Manufacturing environment
  • Willingness and ability to work days and attend school in the evenings

  • Strong technical background and mechanical aptitude
  • Self-directed, detail oriented, organized, and flexible
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Associate Degree, Trade School Graduate, Military experience, or a minimum of 3 years of Manufacturing experience
